Monkey Kidney
This slide illustrates a lobule of a healthy monkey kidney. This slide was plastic embedded and sectioned very thinly, allowing for remarkably clear visualization of the anatomical structures. Several glomeruli are contained within the lobule, as well as the associated tubules and blood supply. The bottom region of the slide contains the straight portions of the tubules, while the region around the glomeruli is made up of the convoluted tubules.
Annotations
Juxtaglomerular cells can be seen in the tubule adjacent to the arterioles entering the glomerulus
this glomerulus. Zoom in to see the histology of the JGA more clearly.

Note the brush border of the cells of the proximal tubule. This cell surface specialization greatly increases the surface area for the reabsorption of water and ions from the filtrate.
